Pro of the Month: Matthew LaGrange of LaGrange Home Inspections
Few embody NeighborServe’s philosophy more than Matthew LaGrange, owner of LaGrange Home Inspections and a cornerstone of our contractor co-op. His work is guided by two things we value most in our Pros of the Month:- Service – How do you go above and beyond to serve our neighbors?
- Community – How do you give back to our Indy community and the Neighbor Serve contractor co-op
A Service Built on Trust and Relationships
For Matt, home inspection is about more than just a checklist; it’s an act of service. “The most satisfying thing to me is serving a customer and, you know, adding value to their life, making something easier on them that they don’t have knowledge about,” he shares. Since starting his business in 2021, Matt has been the sole employee, personally handling everything from the first call to the final report. But when you work with Matt, you get more than “just” one inspector. You tap into a network of trusted local contractors he’s built over the years. Even though he doesn’t earn a dime from referrals, Matt regularly connects clients to other pros because, as he puts it, good deeds tend to come back to you. He’s referred companies like Home Experts of Indiana (his former employer) and Shane Peterson to NeighborServe, even though they’re technically “competitors.” Others might guard those contacts; Matt shares them freely because he prioritizes neighbors and relationships. Matthew’s strong relationships with contractors make his business feel much bigger than a one-man shop; you get his whole team of pros when you work with him. Need a roofer? Landscaper? Painter? Matt’s probably got someone he trusts. In one case, he found a last-minute lawn service for a frantic realtor, saving the day before listing photos were taken. This commitment to service was instilled in him from an early age. “My dad was a big part of that,” Matt recalls. “He taught me that if you say you’re going to do something, you do it… if you’re digging a ditch, it better be the best ditch you can dig.”Deep Indy Roots and Community Commitment
A true Hoosier, Matt believes Indiana has “something special with their people” and is deeply committed to the local community. His family roots run deep, with a grandfather and great-uncles who built many homes in the Franklin area. This community focus extends beyond his work. Matt gives back by lending a hand at Marian University and actively builds what he calls a “spiderweb of like-minded individuals.” He’s always ready to help, whether it’s referring other trusted contractors or, in one instance, finding a last-minute lawn service for a frantic realtor, saving the day before property photos were taken. “I just wake up on a daily basis, try to serve as many people as I can,” he says.Tips for Homeowners
When looking for a home inspector, Matt advises homeowners to ask two critical questions:- Are you thorough and take pride in your work?
- Are you willing to discuss your findings with me after the inspection?
