Contractor Vetting
We review 1,000+ contractors each year and fewer than 5% are approved for our neighbors.
Pre-Vetted Contractors:
We only recommend contractors we’d trust to work on mom’s house.
Following are the vetting guidelines that surface our trusted contractors: pros known for outstanding service at a fair price.
- Nomination
The vetting process starts with a nomination from an already-approved Neighbor Serve contractor. Or when 3 neighbors recommend the same pro.
- Vetting
Locally-Owned
- 9/10 contractors have local HQ.
- Decision-making authority must be local.
- Can Neighbor Serve call the owner?
Balanced growth targets
- Do you have capacity for new customers?
- Do you have a balanced growth plan that ensures your team can deliver for new customers?
Responsive
- When a neighbor requests service, pros will respond within 24 hours, ideally much faster, whenever they are “open”.
Tenure of Employees
- Experienced, tenured employees deliver better service.
- How do you treat and train your team?
Locally Respected
- Years in business says a lot in a town our size.
- How are you and your team participating in the community?
Insured, Licensed, etc
- You should always confirm this before hiring a pro.
- At the time of joining, each pro submits a Certificate of Insurance.
- Approval
A potential pro is sent to existing Pro Members for feedback and approval.
- Accountability
Our Pro Members holds one another accountable to:
- 5-star Responsive Service
- Helping One Another
- Participating in Neighbor Serve
- Sharing co-marketing content about Neighbor Serve or other pros
- Referring at least 1 other pro member to a new project each year
- Nominating at least 1 other pro member each year

Neighbors have their own preferences and standards. We have done a lot of the hard work for you, but please use your own process to confirm the pro is right for you and your home. We’re always here to help!
Why a Curated List?
You won’t find every contractor…just a few trusted pros per service category. We build deep relationships with each. If things go wrong we make them right. We don’t sell leads or take kickbacks on your projects.
